NOTE: Due to the number of images, this page may take some time to load. Thank you for your patience!

The following images are all taken from my sketchbook, which I began upon starting my journey abroad. Sketchbooks are a deeply personal practice for me, and have been for as long as I can remember, and so these are as much of a capture of my life these past few months as they are process work for Purveyance and Prise.

I am always relearning how to keep my sketchbooks fast and loose. It's important to remember that ideation is not about sticking the landing first try, but letting yourself have fun with it. I've definitely learned that it's better not to set any strict rules with myself when it comes to art, as for some reason that always burns me out.

Another thing which I have come to enjoy about sketchbooks is the practice of building a visual library to draw from in my later work. It's a very simple concept, but practicing different fashions of border work or armory help me later when designing my own. What a novel thought!

Amidst all my warm ups, long-winded ramblings and silly doodles, you should be able to see much of the work that went behind PoP and the concepts behind it. My initial world was so much larger than this project would allow, and so these pages offer a rather linear view of the world being pared down and refined. As well are my notes on themes I want to explore, small details about the world, costume designs, environment designs, and many, many thumbnails which have yet to be painted over digitally.
